When is ANANTA coming out? Release date, platforms and everything to know

ANANTA comes out on January 15, 2027. The free-to-play urban open-world RPG from Naked Rain and NetEase Games launches worldwide on the same day on PC (official client and Steam), PlayStation 5, iOS and Android. Here is everything we know about the launch, from platforms and price to the cities and characters waiting for you.

ANANTA release date: January 15, 2027

NetEase announced the date at Gamescom Opening Night Live on August 25, 2026, with a trailer that also revealed Chongxiao, the game’s second city. The launch is worldwide and simultaneous: every region and every platform gets the game on the same day. What time does ANANTA launch?

The exact launch time has not been announced yet. As soon as NetEase confirms it, our release date page will show the time in every major time zone.

Which platforms is ANANTA on?

ANANTA launches on four platforms at once:

  • PC, through the official client and Steam
  • PlayStation 5
  • iOS and Android

No Xbox or Nintendo Switch version has been announced. Steam lists cross-platform multiplayer, but NetEase has not yet explained how crossplay or shared progress will work between PC, PS5 and mobile. PC system requirements have not been published yet; our platforms page will list them as soon as they are.

Is ANANTA free to play?

Yes. ANANTA is free to play, and it has no character gacha: playable characters join you for free as the main story moves forward. Money is spent only on cosmetic items such as outfits. Our monetization guide explains what we know.

What kind of game is ANANTA?

ANANTA is an urban open-world RPG set in a modern city full of everyday life and supernatural threats. You play as the Captain of a special task force and can switch between playable characters. You can take on roles such as NCCA officer, hacker, delivery rider and content creator, and build a reputation that unlocks new resources and perks.

More than 100 NPCs have their own stories and quests. Combat draws on martial arts films, and the street itself becomes a weapon. Between missions, the city offers cinemas, mahjong parlors, arcades, cat cafés, gyms and hot springs.

Two cities: Nova City and Chongxiao

So far two cities have been shown. Nova City is a coastal metropolis inspired by East Asian cities, where the Captain arrives to rebuild the team. Chongxiao, inspired by Shanghai and Hangzhou, is the Captain’s hometown, with lakes, gardens and a modern skyline. Each city stands on its own, but they are connected, and the story moves back and forth between them.

Characters revealed so far

These characters have been shown in official trailers and previews:

  • Captain: the protagonist, new captain of the A.C.D. task force
  • Taffy: a gig worker and the only other A.C.D. agent at the start
  • Richie: an NCCA police officer
  • Seymour: a master hacker who lives in an RV in Nova City
  • Shi Ye: the Captain’s childhood friend, a fixer
  • Yinglong: manager of the temple and village of Longqi
  • Lykaia and Aileen: seen in trailers, with roles still to be detailed

How long is ANANTA?

The team told AUTOMATON that players who want to can spend more than 100 hours in the game. In another interview, with Insider Gaming, they said the plan is to support ANANTA for at least seven years with new quests, characters and maps. Our interview summary has the details.

How to get ready for launch

  • Pre-register on the official website, Steam, the PlayStation Store, the App Store or Google Play. Pre-registrations passed 17 million at the announcement and more than 25 million by October 2026. Our pre-registration guide has the links.
